New Additions to my collection this week:
THE INCREDIBLES – FUTURESHOP EXCLUSIVE METAL PACKAGING
THOR – HMV UK STEELBOOK
New Hunger Games posters were released today…
So i thought i would create a banner with all the characters on it.
It features Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark, Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne, Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy, Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket, Lenny Kravitz as Cinna, Amandla Stenberg as Rue, and Alexander Ludwig as Cato.
Enjoy!
James McAvoy (Wanted) has been cast as young Professor Charles Xavier in X-Men: First Class. So what does this mean for Patrick Stewart? Very little is know about the movie. Is it a reboot or just an origins story? There was once talk of a Magneto origins… but now it seems as if they will be combining the two, which could be the reason for casting McAvoy (who is only 31).
The film is being directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass) and produced by former X-Men director Bryan Singer.

OK, Like all the other networks NBC has announced their new shows for next year. Now why am I only focusing on NBC’s shows? Its because they are the only ones who have included full length trailers with them. The Survival rate of new shows is very slim. Some might get a full season then pulled while others might only last 2-3 episodes and then die a horrible horrible death. Although with Jay moving back to 11:35. It frees up 5 hours of programing that they need to fill… so its possible some of them might get a better chance then usual.
I have ranked the 11 new shows from what i think looks the best to worst. (click on the name to view trailer)
1. The Event – The most intriguing trailer for a series in a long time. Maybe this could be the new “lost”. Serialized shows can be hit or miss with viewers, I really hope this one is a hit.
Chance of of Survival: MED
2. Undercovers – From JJ Abrams, this has a lot of potential, although its hard to see how this show will last.
Chance of of Survival: MED
3. Perfect Couples – To me, i thought this looked really funny and has a great Cast. I hope it will be the “modern family” of nbc but i have a feeling this one wont make it past one season.
Chance of of Survival: LOW
4. The Cape – So they cancel heroes and instead go with this. It could be good or it could get the Summer Glau curse and be canceled.
Chance of of Survival: LOW
5. Outsourced – With the Office possibly ending, this might need to be kept around to fill its spot. looks pretty funny too.
Chance of of Survival: MED
6. Chase – pretty much CSI: US Marshall Cop show. Looks entertaining, but honestly… do we really need this show? but america loves these types so it could last.
Chance of of Survival: HIGH
7. Outlaw – Courtroom Drama yada yada. Every year we get one of these shows. But this one looks kinda ok. I have no clue how this will pan out.
Chance of Survival: MED
8. Love Bites – If you like Sex and the City mixed with B-C list celebs coming in every week this show is for you. I dont think its for me though.
Chance of Survival: MED
9. The Paul Reiser Show – Curb your EnReiserasum. Could work but since its on NBC it wont have the “edginess” that curb does. I have a feeling this will fail.
Chance of Survival: LOW
10. Friends with Benefits -Honestly, this looks pretty bad. I am a little sad about that considering its from the guys who made 500 Days of Summer (a Movie that i loved.
Chance of Survival: LOW
11. Harry’s Law – There is no way I would ever watch this. But who knows, David E Kelley has been successful before.
Chance of Survival: MED
The first image of Chris Hemsworth as Thor! helmet-less and Hammer-less (but im pretty sure anyone who stayed after the end credits of Iron Man 2 this weekend knows where it is)

The armor looks a little plastic-y if you ask me… but Hemsworth looks solid.
What do you think?

Very little is known about this movie and I would like to keep it that way. It is being described as “a contemporary sci—fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind.” That sounds pretty cool to me. Christopher Nolan (Memento, The Dark Knight) is one of my favorite film makers and this looks like it could be one if his best. It also has a solid cast to go along with it. This one takes the #1 spot in my movies to see this summer.

Director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) latest film based on the graphic novels. After I watched the trailer, it made me really want to check out the books and im glad I did. They are fantastic. If the movie is anything like them this will be one of the funniest and original films you will see all summer.

As far as sequels go in the super hero movie world, they always seem to be better. Spider-man 2, X2, Blade 2, TDK… i could go on and on. So it would be safe to assume this could be better then the original. The first one was fantastic, but it didn’t as much action as one might have hoped. This one seems to have more explosions and fight sequences in the trailer alone to out do the first one. Bring it on.

As far as video game movies go, pretty much every single one has sucked. All of them, just bad. Can Prince of Persia break the curse? Judging from the trailer… i think so. It has the same vibe as Pirates of the Caribbean (the Bruckheimer/Disney influence) which isn’t a bad this for this kind of film. This looks like a fun Action Adventure that could be one of the enjoyable escapes this summer.

SNL movies can often be hit or miss. Classics like Waynes World were great but then you have forgettable flicks like Ladies Man. So how do you turn one of the shortest sketches in SNL history into a 90 minute feature? Not sure… But they have done it and the trailer looks hilarious. Fingers crossed this will join the ranks Night of the Roxbury on the funny scale.

Remake of the popular TV show. This movie looks over the top and I like it. It looks to have balls to the walls action and doesn’t seem to take it self too seriously which is often a good sign. The defining factor will be the chemistry between the characters. If it doesn’t work the movie wont work.

The Combo of Will Farrell and Adam McKay have made some of the funniest films in the last few years (Anchorman, Step Brothers, Talladega Nights, and the shorts “the Landlord” and “Green Team”). They are back together along with Marky Mark in this buddy cop film.

This is the “sequel” or spin off to Forgetting Sara Marshall. Same Director/writer and Russell Brand plays the same character (although Jonah Hill does not). If its anything like FSM it should have a ton of laughs and be enjoyable from start to finish.

When i was a kid, I had an idea. To put every action star i could think of into one movie. Many years later, Sylvester Stallone had the exact same one. This is the result. Almost every Action Movie Legend is in here. Doesn’t matter if the plot sucks. Seeing all these guys together is enough to be worth seeing.

Pixar returns to the series that started it all. Buzz and Woody are back. It really doesn’t matter what the story is about, pixar knows how to make a good movie. Every single one they do has been a work of brilliance and this hopefully will be no exception.

The following movies have potential to be good. But as of right now, I’m on the fence.

It has been SO LONG since there has been a GOOD predator movie… like… since Arnold. But Robert Rodriguez (Desperado, Sin City) is behind this one. With a fresh and cool concept, this could be the sequel we’ve been waiting for.

Might be a tad too silly, but it could also be the perfect amount. It could be a fun ride or a train-wreck. Too soon to tell.

I don’t know why, but I am having some doubts about this film. You would think I could trust that this will be as good as Gladiator… but I am just slightly hesitant on it being as epic as i want it to be. Prove me wrong Ridley/Crowe.

Kids are going to love it. Guaranteed. I even found myself grinning at the cartoonish cutesy characters. But can it pull off the heart of a pixar film? not sure. we’ll see.

In the 90′s one of my favorite comic books was Danger Girl. Which felt like a mix of Charlies Angles, James Bond, and Indiana Jones… Now Danger Girl is getting its own film to be directed by Todd Lincoln. No casting news yet, or a release date. But this fanboy is pumped.
If you haven’t seen the Iron Man 2 Trailer yet. Check it out Here. It should be one of the best superhero/action movies coming out this year.
